Since 1992, McFarlane ShipDesign has been supplying quality design, naval architecture, and marine engineering to ship owners and shipyards across the globe. We are composed of professional engineers, designers and naval architects specializing in small cruise ships, large yachts, tall ships and expedition vessels.

With a majority of our team avid recreational and competitive sailors, we have large knowledge of traditional and new emerging wind technology solutions. Having been designing wind propulsion expedition cruise ships for the past 30 years, the team actively promotes natural element harnessing for propulsion and natural energy solutions on board passenger vessels and large luxury yachts.
Features such as dynarig sail design or traditional clipper designs with advanced operational features have been present on a multiple of our projects within the past 10 years with more and more clients requesting future proofing and greener technologies onboard their vessels.
