The University of Tokyo is conducting the research project on next generation hybrid sailing vessel “Wind Challenger”, which has extraordinary large retractable rigid wing sails to acquire the maximum wind energy from the sea. The fuel oil consumption will be drastically decreased as the result. The picture shows 84,000DW bulk carrier type Wind Challenger which has 4 rigid wing sails.
