World’s First Wind-Powered Container Ship To Sail Between France & Madagascar
The 91m ship can carry 210 TEU, 40 reefers, and has three wing sails for propulsion. French cooperative has finalized a construction order for the world’s first sail-powered containership. will have a total sail area of 1,050 sqm propelled by three rigid wing sails, each measuring 350 sqm. The vessel, designed for trade between France and Madagascar, will be built by RMK Marine in Turkey.
