Anemoi Marine Technologies, a leader in wind-assisted propulsion technology, has developed an in-service performance verification process that reduces cost and complexity for operators while improving accuracy compared to existing practices.

The process, validated by Lloyd’s Register Advisory (LR Advisory), involves measuring vessel data when the wind-assisted propulsion system is turned on and off while encountering various conditions during regular operation. The data is used to calibrate predictions on forces generated by the rotor sail system and their impact on the vessel, which can be used to predict voyage fuel savings with high levels of confidence.  Read more…

The facility is located within Daming Heavy Industry’s manufacturing base on the banks of the Yangtze River in Jiangsu Province, China. Anemoi has partnered exclusively with Daming Heavy Industries for steel fabrication and port services. With direct access to port infrastructure and barge transport on site, Anemoi said it can directly transport rotor sails to nearby shipyards by barge for minimal environmental impact. Read more…

IMO’s Global Industry Alliance to Support Low Carbon Shipping (Low Carbon GIA) hosted its 3rd roundtable on “Wind Propulsion Technology” at IMO Headquarters (26 and 27 June). The roundtable reviewed the first draft of a practical guide to support ship owners on Wind Propulsion Technology (WPT) implementation, breaking down barriers to adoption. The draft guide was developed based on previous roundtables and engagement with industry stakeholders, providing their experiences and challenges with WPT. Read more…
