HD Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering, the holding company of HD Hyundai, has unveiled its Hi-Wing, a prototype which has gone through land trials, and will shortly be tested at sea on an MR tanker belonging to HMM, South Korea’s flagship line. Read more…

Wind-assisted propulsion is having a moment in commercial shipping. On average, most systems on the market can reduce fuel consumption by about 10 percent for a tanker or bulker – or more, if the conditions on the route are right. Design maturity is increasing, along with economies of scale for manufacturing, bringing down capex and shortening payback times for the shipowner. We were delighted to have IMO Secretary General, Arsenio Dominguez delivering the keynote along with three Prime ministers on the panels and other leading policy makers at the event.
This second phase of the Island Forum was an opportunity for several Caribbean countries to announce a regional initiative financed by the Green Climate Fund to combat climate change.
